Ο Σπυρίδων Βούτος χειροτονήθηκε Διάκονος και Πρεσβύτερος στην Ι.Μ. Τορόντο

Ο Σπυρίδων Βούτος από μικρός, αφοσιωμένος στην Εκκλησία με επίγνωση, πατέρας δύο ενήλικων υιών, του Διονυσίου και του Κωνσταντίνου, απεφάσισε να αφιερώσει το υπόλοιπον της ζωής του στην Εκκλησία σαν ιερομόναχος.

Το Σάββατο 27 Ιανουαρίου, στον Ι.Ν. Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου Montreal, στον οποίο από παιδί μεγάλωσε, ο Μητροπολίτης Σωτήριος τον χειροτόνησε Διάκονο, αφού προηγουμένως είχε καρεί μοναχός.

Η Θεία Λειτουργία και η σε Διάκονο χειροτονία έφερε ρίγη συγκίνησης στο πολυπληθές εκκλησίασμα. Τον Μητροπολίτη περιεστοίχιζαν επτά (7) ιερείς από το Montreal-Laval και τα περίχωρα. Άπαντες οι ιεροψάλτες των ένδεκα (11) εκκλησιών της περιοχής έλαβαν μέρος σε δύο χορούς, δεξιό και αριστερό. Όταν ο Μητροπολίτης φώναξε το «Άξιος», το εκκλησίασμα ήταν ασυγκράτητο.

Μετά την Θ. Λειτουργία παρετέθη γεύμα για όλους.

Την επομένη -Κυριακή 28 Ιανουαρίου-, στον Ι.Ναό Αγ. Γεωργίου Montreal, ο Μητροπολίτης Σωτήριος χειροτόνησε τον Διάκονο Σπυρίδωνα Βούτο, σε Πρεσβύτερο, βοηθούμενος από τον π. Ν. Μοστράτο και τον π. Δ. Αντωνόπουλο. Ο τεράστιος Ι.Ν. του Αγ. Γεωργίου, χωρητικότητας 850 καθημένων, ήταν κατάμεστος. Η χορωδία ήταν καταπληκτική. Συγκινητική η ώρα της χειροτονίας με όλους τους πιστούς γονατιστούς, όπως είχε παρακαλέσει ο Μητροπολίτης. Τα πάντα έγιναν «ευσχημόνως και κατά τάξιν».

Αμέσως μετά την χειροτονία, ο νεοχειροτονηθείς έλαβε την πρώτη θέση μεταξύ των ιερέων και στο τέλος της Θ. Λειτουργίας μοίρασε το αντίδωρο, – τάξη την οποία ακολουθεί ο Μητροπολίτης- ώστε οι ευλαβείς χριστιανοί να πάρουν το αντίδωρο από τον νεοχειροτονηθέντα, να φιλήσουν το χέρι του και να του ευχηθούν το «Άξιος».

Ο νεοχειροτονηθείς ιερεύς Σπυρίδων Βούτος θα διαμένει στην Ιερά Μητρόπολη με τον Μητροπολίτη Σωτήριο, τον π. Αθηναγόρα Ζηλιασκόπουλο και τον π. Ιγνάτιο Δελή. Θα λειτουργεί στον Ι.Ναό Αγ. Τριάδας Τορόντο και θα υπηρετεί και σαν γραμματεύς της Αγγλικής στην Ι. Μητρόπολη.

Spyridon Voutos Deacon and Presbyter of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto

Devoted from a young age to the Church, Spyridon Voutos, the father of two adult sons, Dionysios and Constantine, chose to dedicate the rest of his life to the Church as a hieromonk.

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Annunciation of the Theotokos (Evangelismos) Greek Orthodox Church in Montreal, where he grew up as a child, Metropolitan Sotirios ordained him to the Diaconate, having been previously tonsured a monk.

The Divine Liturgy and the Ordination to Deacon brought tremendous emotion to the gathered parishioners. The Metropolitan was surrounded by seven priests from Montreal-Laval and the surrounding areas. The chanters of the 11 churches in the region took part in two choirs, to the right and left. When the Metropolitan shouted the acclamation “Axios” (“He is Worthy”), parishioners could not hold back their enthusiasm.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a meal was offered to all in attendance.

The following day – January 28th – at the Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Montreal, Metropolitan Sotirios ordained Deacon Spyridon Voutos to the Priesthood, assisted by Fr. N. Mostratos and Fr. D. Antonopoulos. The enormous Saint George Cathedral, with a capacity of 850 seats, was completely full. The choir performed wonderfully. During the ordination service, it was especially moving when all the faithful kneeled as the Metropolitan requested. Everything was done “decently and in order.”

Immediately after the ordination, the new priest took the first place among the participating presbyters and distributed the Antidoron at the end of the Divine Liturgy – in keeping with the liturgical order favoured by the Metropolitan – so that the pious Christians can receive the Antidoron from the newly ordained Fr. Spyridon, kiss his hand and personally wish him “Axios”!

Father Spyridon Voutos will reside in the Holy Metropolis along with Metropolitan Sotirios, Fr. Athenagoras Ziliaskopoulos and Fr. Ignatios Delis. He will serve as a priest at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Toronto, and will also act as English Secretary within the office of the Metropolis.
