Πατρίδα Ελλάδα και Ομογένεια

Χώρα σαν την Ελλάδα δεν υπάρχει στον κόσµο. Η γεωγραφική της θέση είναι απαράµιλλη. Το κλίµα της θαυµάσιο. Η ιστορία της, η πιο ένδοξη. Ο πολιτισµός της από αρχαιοτάτων χρόνων εδίδαξε την ανθρωπότητα όλες τις επιστήµες. Φιλοσοφία, Μαθηµατικά, Ιατρική κλπ. Εφεύρε, ανακάλυψε και εφήρµοσε την Δηµοκρατία. Έδωκε στον κόσµο τα φώτα και τον πολιτισµό. Είναι όντως αθάνατη.
Τελευταία έχει χάσει την υπόληψή της. Επεσε πολύ στη συνείδηση του κόσµου. Εγινε, αν θέλετε, ο περίγελος του κόσµου. Παντού ακούγεται η κλεψιά, η απατεωνιά, η φοροδιαφυγή, η τεµπελιά των Ελλήνων και δυσφηµίζεται η χώρα που δεν έχει όµοια της στον κόσµο.
Ποια όµως είναι η πραγµατικότητα;
Βεβαίως υπάρχει, κλεψιά, απατεωνιά, φοροδιαφυγή, τεµπελιά. Αλλά ποιος τα κάνει όλα αυτά; Πολλοί. Οχι όµως όλοι οι Ελληνες. Αυτά τα κάνουν οι «επιτήδειοι». Οι πολλοί Έλληνες έχουν φιλότιµο. Είναι εργατικοί. Είναι τίµιοι. Ντρέπονται και υποφέρουν, γιατί κατάφεραν οι ολίγοι «επιτήδειοι» να κυριαρχήσουν και να δυσφηµίσουν την Ελλάδα και τον Ελληνα παγκοσµίως.
Σ’αυτή την απαράδεκτη κατάσταση πώς πρέπει να σκεφτόµαστε και να ενεργούµε εµείς οι οµογενείς που ζούµε στον Καναδά; Βεβαίως, δεν µας αρέσει η κατάσταση αυτή και υποφέρουµε. Αλλά τι πρέπει να κάνουµε; Να γυρίσουµε την πλάτη στην τόσο ένδοξη και όµορφη πατριδα µας; Ασφαλώς όχι.
Να πως πρέπει να σκεπτόµαστε και να ενεργούµε. Η απαράδεκτη αυτή κατάσταση στην πατρίδα µας την Ελλάδα, συννεφάκι είναι και θα περάσει. Ήδη τα αδέλφια µας εν Ελλάδι έχουν κάνει φοβερές θυσίες. Υπέφεραν και υποφέρουν. Αλλά το νερό µπήκε στο αυλάκι και το φως στην άκρη του τούνελ φαίνεται. Δικό µας καθήκον είναι να βοηθήσουµε, ώστε το αυλάκι να µη σπάσει. Το σκοτεινό τούνελ να τελειώσει. Τα αδέλφια µας στην Ελλάδα και η ένδοξη πατρίδα µας να βγουν από το σκοτεινό τούνελ και να ζήσουν στον ήλιο της ευηµερίας.
Οµογενή Ελληνα που ζεις στον Καναδά, µη γίνεσαι επιπόλαιος. Μη, µε την επιπολαιότητά σου, ρίχνεις πέτρες στην ένδοξη πατρίδα Ελλάδα. Νηφάλια εξέτασε και ιδές την πραγµατικότητα. Δεν είναι η Ελλάδα που φέρνει την ντροπή. Δεν είναι όλοι οι Ελληνες. Είναι µερικοί. Είναι οι επιτήδειοι. Κάνε την διάκριση. Ξεσκέπασε αυτούς. Μη µιλάς εναντίον του κάθε Έλληνα. Αυτό καταντά συκοφαντία. Μη µιλάς εναντίον στην Ελλάδα. Είναι η µάνα σου. Σκέψου καλύτερα. Σοβαρότερα. Ωριµότερα. Ελληνα οµογενή που ζεις στον Καναδά, όποιος κι αν είσαι. Όρθωσε το ανάστηµα σου. Με την ψυχή σου και την καρδιά σου υποστήριξε την Ελλάδα σ’αυτή την δύσκολη καµπή της ιστορίας της. Βάλε το χέρι σου στην τσέπη και βοήθησε κάποιον Ελληνα που υποφέρει. Χρησιµοποίησε τον νου σου και την εξυπνάδα σου και αποστόµωσε αυτούς που πήραν φόρα και κατηγορούν την πατρίδα σου. Τώρα αρχίζεις να κάνεις τα σχέδια σου για τις θερινές διακοπές σου. Κάµε τις διακοπές σου µε την οικογένειά σου εφέτος στην Ελλάδα.
Ελληνα οµογενή που ζεις στον Καναδά σκέψου. Η Ελλάδα είναι η πατρίδα σου. Η µάνα σου. Περνάει µια δύσκολη περίοδο. Μη ντρέπεσαι. Μη απογοητεύεσαι. Θα την ξεπεράσει. Είναι η ενδοξότερη πατρίδα στον κόσµο. Το φως της επιστήµης της και του πολιτισµού της, άρχισε να λάµπει από την βαθιά αρχαιότητα. Λάµπει και θα λάµπει για πάντα. Η Ελλάδα ποτέ δεν πεθαίνει!
Our Homeland Greece and the Omogenia

A country such as Greece does not exist anywhere else in the world. Its geographical location is incomparable. Its climate is wonderful. Its history is truly glorious. From ancient times, its civilization taught humanity all sciences and disciplines: Philosophy, Mathematics, Medicine, etc. It invented, revealed and applied the best political system in the world: Democracy. It gave to the world light, knowledge and the precepts of civilization. Truly, in this sense, Greece is eternal.
In recent times, it has lost its previously-held high esteem. In the opinion of the world, it has fallen greatly. If you choose to accept this, it became the object of scorn and ridicule around the world. Greeks are accused of theft, fraud, tax evasion and laziness in all parts of the earth. This glorious country, that has no equal anywhere in the world, is now being discredited in the public domain.
What is the truth, though?
There is no doubt that theft, fraud, tax evasion and laziness exists. Yet, who does all these things? There are many who do them – but not all Greeks are guilty of doing these things. They are being done by those who are “cunning” and who think only of themselves. The vast majority of Greeks have filotimo, a sense of decency and a love of honour. They are hard-working. They are honest. They are embarrassed and suffer, because a few “cunning and shrewd people” were able to come to power and to govern and discredit both Greece and the Greek citizen worldwide.
In this unacceptable reality, how should we who are members of the Greek Omogenia in Canada think and act? Of course, we do not like this situation at all and we co-suffer with our compatriots who suffer through no fault of their own. Yet, what should we do? Should we turn our backs upon our most glorious and beautiful homeland? We can never do this!
This is how we should think and act. Let us remember that this unacceptable situation that is now happening in our homeland is a temporary dark cloud that will soon pass by. Already our brothers and sisters in Greece have made tremendous sacrifices. They suffered and continue to suffer today. Yet, the proverbial water has entered the water-channel and light can be seen at the end of the tunnel. It is our duty to assist in any way that we can, so that this channel does not break. At the end of the darkened tunnel, there is light. Soon, our brothers and sisters in Greece and in our glorious homeland will pass through this dark tunnel and live in the bright sun of prosperity.
Fellow Greeks of the Omogenia who live in Canada: do not become superficial and flippant about this issue in Greece. Do not, in your state of frivolousness, throw proverbial stones at your glorious homeland. Soberly examine and see what the reality is. It is not Greece that makes you feel ashamed, for not all Greeks are at fault. They are only few who must be blamed. They are the “shrewd” and “cunning” ones. It is important to keep these distinctions in mind when rendering judgement. It is our duty to expose them and their evil deeds that give Greece such a bad name and reputation around the world. Do not criticize and speak against every Greek. One who does this commits slander. Do not speak against Greece, for she is your mother. Think more positively; seriously; and maturely about this issue.
Fellow Greeks of the Omogenia who live in Canada: stand tall and be proud of Greece! With all your heart and soul, support Greece in this difficult watershed of its history. Put your hand in your pocket and financially support a brother or sister in our homeland who is suffering. Use your mind and your intelligence to silence those who have used this crisis in Greece as an opportunity to slander and ridicule your country of origin. As you now begin to make plans for your summer holidays, consider vacationing in Greece with your family this year.
Fellow Greeks of the Omogenia who live in Canada: never forget that Greece is your motherland; your homeland; she who gave birth to you. She is now going through a difficult time. Do not be ashamed of her. Do not lose hope. She will endure this crisis as she has endured worse situations in its past history. She is the most glorious country, with unparalleled contributions to the world. These contributions of light and of knowledge and of culture – began to illumine the world from ancient times. Greece illumines everything around her, and she will continue to illumine and shine brightly in the world forevermore. Greece will never die!
