«Ει δε Χριστός ούκ εγήγερται…»

O Απόστολος Παύλος λέγει «Ει δε Χριστός ουκ εγήγερται κενόν το κήρυγμα ημών κενή και η πίστις υμών». Αν ο Χριστός δεν αναστήθηκε το κήρυγμά μας και η πίστη μας είναι χωρίς νόημα. Από τα πρώτα χρόνια αμφισβητήθηκε από μερικούς η Ανάσταση του Χριστού. Οι Γραμματείς και οι Φαρισαίοι τους καθοδήγησαν να ειπούν, ότι δεν αναστήθηκε ο Χριστός, αλλά, ότι οι μαθητές Του έκλεψαν το σώμα Του.
Χύθηκε πολλή μελάνη για να αποδειχθεί, ότι ο Χριστός δεν αναστήθηκε. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, συνήθως πριν από τα Χριστούγεννα και το Πάσχα, ξεσπαθώνουν τα μέσα ενημέρωσης εναντίον του Χριστού. Εφέτος, ένα άρθρο υποστηρίζει, ότι ο Χριστός δεν είναι κάν ιστορικό πρόσωπο. Ο Χριστός όχι μόνο είναι ιστορικό πρόσωπο, αλλά και η Ανάσταση Του είναι αναμφισβήτητη. Το τραγικό είναι, ότι κι αυτοί που τα γράφουν παραδέχονται ότι, ό,τι γράφουν είναι ένα παραμύθι. Κι όμως επιμένουν και συνεχίζουν. Γιατί;
Διότι το σκοτάδι φοβάται το φως. Μόλις παρουσιάζεται το φως το σκοτάδι διαλύεται.
Σεις που είσθε εδώ απόψε, ήλθατε για να γιορτάσουμε την Ανάσταση του Χριστού. Πολύ απλά θέλω να σας υπενθυμίσω μερικά πράγματα.
Οι προφήτες της Π. Διαθήκης προφήτευσαν τον ερχομό του Μεσσία. Στο πρόσωπο του Χριστού επαληθεύτηκαν όλες οι προφητείες. Συνεπώς, ο Μεσσίας ήλθε. Εδίδαξε τον αλήθεια. Σαν άνθρωπος πέθανε στον σταυρό. Νικητής κατέβηκε στον Άδη και επικράνθη ο Άδης. Αναστήθηκε και αναλήφθηκε στους ουρανούς φέροντας στους ώμους Του την ανθρώπινη φύση. Τα έκανε όλα αυτά για να κάνει δυνατή την ανάσταση του καθενός μας.
Απόψε γιορτάζουμε την Ανάσταση του Χριστού μας και μια ανεκλάλητη χαρά γεμίζει τις καρδιές μας και τις ψυχές μας. Σκεφθείτε τη χαρά και την ευτυχία που θα έχουμε όταν αναστημένοι θα ζούμε την Ανάστασή Του μαζί στον ουρανό.
Αφήστε τους πολέμιους του Χριστού. Αθεϊστές. Ψευδοπροφήτες. Οπαδούς ψεύτικων θρησκειών, να υβρίζουν και να συκοφαντούν το Χριστό και την Ανάστασή Του. Σεις ευλογημένοι μου χριστιανοί, κρατήστε την πίστη σας στο Χριστό και στην Ανάστασή Του. Ριζώστε την στις ψυχές των παιδιών, των εγγονών σας.
Χριστός Ανέστη, αγαπημένοι μου χριστιανοί. Καλή αντάμωση, εδώ, κάθε χρόνο στην Ανάστασή Του και καλή αντάμωση στην κοινή ανάσταση στους ουρανούς.

“Ιf Christ Is Not Risen…”

St. Paul wrote that “If Christ is not risen, our preaching is in vain and our faith is empty.” This means that if Christ’s Resurrection never happened, then our preaching and our faith has no meaning and is emptied of its power to bring others to Christ! From the very beginning, there were those who doubted the resurrection of Christ. The Scribes and Pharisees exerted a great influence on the people then to say that Christ did not rise from the dead and instead to say that His disciples stole His body from the tomb.
Much ink has been spent over the ages to try to prove that Christ never rose from the dead. Every year – usually before Christmas and Easter – the mass media make every effort to cast doubt on the historical events celebrated by Christians during these Holy Days. One magazine article went so far this year to claim that Christ Himself did not exist and that He is simply a myth. The Church and its faithful have no doubt that Christ exists yesterday, today and forever, and that He lived upon this earth, and was resurrected from the dead on the third day. This event for us is undeniable, as the Resurrection is the foundation of the Church and our faith. The tragic mistake these authors make, is that they know that what they are writing is false, and they try to discredit the Church and Christ Himself. The question remains: why do they insist on doing this?
Simply because the darkness fears the light. As soon as light dawns, darkness fades away and disappears.
All of you who have come to Church this evening, have come to celebrate the glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would like to remind you of certain things.
The Prophets in the Old Testament all prophesied of the coming of the Messiah. All their prophecies were realized and came true in Jesus Christ. He is the long-awaited Messiah, who came to teach humanity about the Truth. As a man who was born from the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was crucified and died a horrible death on the cross. As a victor over death, He descended to Hades to free those who were there held captive. This is why Hades was embittered and could not hold Him, for He who is the Life could not be held captive by death. Christ rose from the dead and after 40 days, ascended to Heaven, to sit at the right hand of the Father. He took with Him His human nature that He glorified and enthroned in Heaven. He did all this for us, so that we too will be raised from the dead and be granted life forever more with Him in His Kingdom.
Tonight, we celebrate this victory that Christ accomplished for us in His own defeat of death, so that He could grant all of us life forever more. This is why we are all filled with joy this evening, that will be expressed in our singing of the Paschal Hymn and the constant repetition of the proclamation that “Christ is Risen!” Celebrating this joyous victory together this evening, think about the joy we will all have when we too will be raised to life forever more in His Kingdom!
Let us ignore those who try to throw mud and continue their war against the Risen Lord: do not give attention to the claims of the atheists; the false prophets; the followers and teachers of false religions and teachings, who make every effort to repudiate and spread false claims about the Resurrection of Christ. I ask all of you, Beloved Christians, to hold on to your faith in the Risen Lord, and to never doubt that He rose from the dead “for us and for our salvation.” Teach this faith to your children and grand-children, so that Christ may be deeply rooted in their hearts and souls.
I greet you all with the joyous proclamation of our faith: “Christ is Risen!” Let us celebrate and meet the Risen Christ tonight here in Church, and may we all meet in the Universal Resurrection in the Heavens, where we will be forever united with our Risen Lord and Saviour!
