Ο Υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών Αντώνης Διαματάρης στην Αρχιεπισκοπή Καναδά

Ο Υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών της Ελλάδας κ. Αντώνιος Διαματάρης, επισκέφθηκε τον Καναδά και ιδιαίτερα την πόλη του Μόντρεαλ και του Τορόντο.

Στο Μόντρεαλ επισκέφθηκε το Γενικό Προξενείο, την Ελληνική Κοινότητα Μείζονος Μοντρεάλ, τα σχολεία της και άλλα ιδρύματα.

Στο Τορόντο επισκέφθηκε το Γενικό Προξενείο της Ελλάδας, άλλους οργανισμούς και την Αρχιεπισκοπή Καναδά.

Την Παρασκευή 22 Νοεμβρίου, επισκέφθηκε το Ελληνορθόδοξο Ημερήσιο Σχολείο της Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπής «Μεταμόρφωση». Η Διευθύντρια του Σχολείου, οι δάσκαλοι και τα παιδιά τον υποδέχθηκαν με πολύ ενθουσιασμό. Έψαλαν ύμνους. Τραγούδησαν τραγούδια. Εχόρεψαν ελληνικούς χορούς.

Ενθουσιάσθηκε ο Υφυπουργός και μίλησε στα παιδιά με πολλή αγάπη. Συγχάρηκε τη διευθύντρια κα Άννα Σαραντίδου, το διδακτικό προσωπικό και τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Σωτήριο. Στα παιδιά μίλησε και ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος για την πατρίδα Ελλάδα, αλλά και για τα Χριστούγεννα.

Στην συνέχεια ο κ. Υφυπουργός με τους συνοδούς του, Γενικό Πρόξενο κ. Β. Μαλιγκούδη και τον κ. Εμμανουήλ Καμπουράκη, Σύμβουλο Πρεσβείας Β΄, με τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Σωτήριο, τη διευθύντρια του Σχολείου κα Άννα Σαραντίδου, την κα Λούση Γρηγοριάδη και την κα Μ. Λυχνάκη, Σύμβουλο Παιδείας επισκέφθηκαν τους μαθητές στις τάξεις τους.

Ο κ. Υφυπουργός ενθουσιάσθηκε με τις θαυμάσιες εγκαταστάσεις αλλά και τον εξοπλισμό του Σχολείου και πάνω απ’ όλα, με το γεγονός ότι οι μαθητές δεν είναι όλοι ελληνικής καταγωγής, αλλά όλοι μιλούν ελληνικά θαυμάσια.

Μετά από την επίσκεψη στο Ημερήσιο Ελληνικό Σχολείο, ο Υφυπουργός κ. Α. Διαματάρης επισκέφθηκε την Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπή και την Ορθόδοξη Θεολογική Ακαδημία Τορόντο. Στην είσοδο τον περίμεναν οι φοιτητές με τον διευθυντή π. Αλέξανδρο Σαλμά και του τραγούδησαν τον ύμνο των φοιτητών αλλά και τον ύμνο του Ελληνοκαναδού και μετά μέσα στον Ι. Ν. Αγ. Ιωάννου του Θεολόγου του έψαλαν τα απολυτίκια του Αγ. Ιωάννου του Θεολόγου και της Παναγίας Τοροντόεσσας. Σημειώνεται εδώ ότι, όλοι αυτοί οι ύμνοι είναι ποιήματα του Αρχιεπισκόπου Σωτηρίου.

Στη συνέχεια, ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος ξενάγησε τον Υφυπουργό με τη συνοδεία του σε όλους τους χώρους της Θεολογικής Ακαδημίας και της Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπής.

Ιδιαίτερη συνομιλία είχε ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος με τον Υφυπουργό κ. Διαματάρη για αρκετή ώρα. Μετά ταύτα, στην αίθουσα συνεδριάσεων της Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπής προσεφέρθη καφές και συνεζήτησαν διάφορα θέματα με τον Υφυπουργό και τη συνοδεία του.

Το βράδυ της Παρασκευής είχε το ετήσιο δείπνο ο οργανισμός «Ελληνική Κληρονομιά» (HHF) στο οποίον παρεκάθησαν πολλοί, ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος και ο Υφυπουργός κ. Διαματάρης, οι οποίοι και ομίλησαν. Ο Οργανισμός HHF είναι ένας από τους σημαντικούς ελληνικούς οργανισμούς στον Καναδά και ιδιαίτερα φροντίζει για έδρες Ελληνικών Σπουδών στα Πανεπιστήμια. Τόσον ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος όσο και ο Υφυπουργός κ. Διαματάρης, συνεχάρησαν τον οργανισμό HHF για την πλούσια δράση του και τα σπουδαία αποτελέσματα.

Το Σαββάτο το μεσημέρι 23 Νοεμβρίου, 2019 ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σωτήριος παρέθεσε γεύμα στην Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπή για τον κ. Υφυπουργό. Στο γεύμα, εκτός από τον κ. Υφυπουργό και τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Σωτήριο, παρεκάθησαν ο Γενικός Πρόξενος κ. Β. Μαλιγκούδης, ο κ. Εμμανουήλ Καμπουράκης, Σύμβουλος Πρεσβείας Β΄, ο διευθυντής της Θεολογικής Ακαδημίας Αρχιμ. Αλέξανδρος Σαλμάς και ο κ. Σ. Βολονάκης, Διευθυντής Ελληνικής Παιδείας της Ι. Αρχιεπισκοπής για όλο τον Καναδά.

Κατά τη διάρκεια του γεύματος συνεζητήθησαν πάρα πολλά θέματα. Ο κ. Υφυπουργός έδειξε μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον, αλλά και μεγάλη αγάπη για την Εκκλησία μας στον Καναδά και τα ιδρύματά της. Συνεχάρη από καρδιάς τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο Σωτήριο για όλα τα επιτεύγματα της Εκκλησίας στον Καναδά.

The Deputy Minister of External Affairs of Greece Mr. Antonis Diamataris at the Archdiocese of Canada

His Excellency, the Deputy Minister of External Affairs of Greece, Mr. Antonis Diamataris, visited Canada and more specifically the cities of Montreal and Toronto.

In Montreal he visited the Consulate General of Greece, the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, its schools and other institutions.

In Toronto he visited the Consulate General of Greece, other organizations and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada.

On Friday, November 22nd, he visited the Greek Orthodox Day School “Metamorphosis” of the Archdiocese. The Principal of the School, Mrs. Anna Sarantidis, the teachers and the children greeted him with great enthusiasm. They chanted hymns. They sang songs. They danced Greek dances.

The Deputy Minister was very pleased and spoke to the children with much love. He congratulated the Principal, Mrs. Sarantidis, the teaching staff, and His Eminence Archbishop Sotirios. Archbishop Sotirios spoke to the children as well, about the Greek fatherland, and about Christmas.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister accompanied by Consul General Mr. V. Maligoudis and Mr. Emmanuel Kambourakis, along with Archbishop Sotirios, the school Principal, Mrs. Lucy Grigoriadis and Mrs. M. Lichnakis, Councillor of Education, visited the students in their classrooms.

The Deputy Minister was very impressed with the excellent facilities but also the school equipment and above all, with the fact that not all the students are of Greek origin, but all speak Greek well.

After visiting the Day Greek School, the Deputy Minister visited the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and the Orthodox Theological Academy of Toronto. At the entrance hall the students and the dean Fr. Alexandros Salmas welcomed and sang the Students’ Anthem but also the Hymn of the Greek- Canadian. Then in the chapel of St. John the Theologian, they chanted the apolytikia of St. John the Theologian and Panagia of Toronto (Torontoessa). It should be noted, that all the hymns are poems written by Archbishop Sotirios.

Afterwards, Archbishop Sotirios gave the Deputy Minister and those accompanying him, a guided tour of all the facilities of the Theological Academy and the Archdiocese.

Archbishop Sotirios had a lengthy private conversation with Deputy Minister Diamataris. After this, in the board room of the Holy Archdiocese, coffee was offered and they discussed various topics with the Deputy Minister and all those who accompanied him.

On Friday night the annual dinner of the Hellenic Heritage Foundation “HHF” was held, many participated, including Archbishop Sotirios and the Deputy Minister, who both spoke. The “HHF” is one of the most important Greek organizations in Canada which supports Greek Studies in Universities. Archbishop Sotirios and Deputy Minister Mr. Diamataris congratulated the “HHF” organization for its impressive action and its great results.

On Saturday, November 23d, at noon, Archbishop Sotirios held a luncheon at the Archdiocese for the Deputy Minister. At the luncheon, besides the Deputy Minister and Archbishop Sotirios, participants were the Consul General Mr. V. Maligoudis, V. Rev. Alexandros Salmas the dean of the Theological Academy, Mr. Emmanuel Kambourakis and Mr. S. Volonakis, Director of Greek Education of the Archdiocese for all of Canada.

During the luncheon many topics were discussed. The Deputy Minister expressed his interest and great love for our Church in Canada and its institutions. He wholeheartedly praised Archbishop Sotirios for all the accomplishments of the Church in Canada.
