Our 5th Annual Winter Camp was a success, once again taking place at the Zajac Ranch for Children in Mission, British Columbia.
One hundred youth participated, led by Rev. Fr. Constantinos Economos — Parish Priest, St. George, Vancouver and CAMP MET BC Director; Administrative Director, Ms. Elleni Asimakis; and, Programs Director, Ms. Aphrodite Koseos, as well as our amazing group of volunteer staff. The Camp Metamorphosis BC theme this year was Creation.
Campers enjoyed the pool, horseback riding, archery, rock climbing, the indoor gym, arts and crafts, Orthodox Life discussions centred on offering creation back to God, a dance and many other fun activities and events. Many thanks to our sponsoring Greek Orthodox Communities (Hellenic Community of Vancouver, Greek Orthodox Community of East Vancouver, Greek Orthodox Community of Surrey, and the Victoria and Vancouver Island Greek Community), as well as our generous donors for making camp accessible through subsidies and sponsorships.
Camp MET BC was blessed to have Rev. Fr. Evangelos Aravantinos (Ypapanti, Victoria), Rev. Fr. Kosta Kaltsidis (Sts. Constantine and Helen, Surrey), and Rev. Fr. Timoleon Prattas (Sts. Nicholas and Demetrios, East Vancouver) participate in Church services and lead discussions. Winter Camp was our final event of 2015, which had as a highlight our sold out Summer Camp with 147 Campers and 40 staff. Glory to God!
We pray to continually gather and enlighten our youth in the New Year and for years to come! Our Camp MET BC Family Reunion will take place on Sunday, January 31st, 2016, at the Church of St. George in Vancouver led by His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios.
